Mr. Gideon Tembo
Co-Founder & Trustee

Born in Lusaka, Zambia, Mr. Gideon Tembo’s journey is one of true transformation, resilience, and purpose. Having experienced life on the streets at a young age, his path took a remarkable turn in the year 2000 when he joined Children’s Town Orphanage, a haven for displaced and vulnerable children. It was there that he began to discover his passion for humanity and service.

After completing his education, Gideon dedicated his life to giving back—working tirelessly to uplift vulnerable communities, youth, and children across Zambia and beyond. His career began humbly as a shop attendant at DAPP, before joining Liyoyelo Community Trust in Limulunga, Western Province, where his heart for community service deepened.

His leadership potential soon led him beyond borders to the Czech Republic, where he headed fundraising for Njovu Zambia, a child and community support initiative. Upon returning home, he rose to become the National Coordinator for Community Projects and Interventions, implementing impactful programs that addressed social challenges in some of the most underprivileged communities.

In 2017, his commitment was nationally recognized when he received the Presidential Medal of Honor for pioneering community interventions in Chibolya, one of Zambia’s most challenging urban areas. Through his mentorship, thousands of young people have transformed their lives—many becoming engineers, teachers, economists, and professionals across various fields. His work in sports development has also nurtured talents who have gone on to represent Zambia at the national level.

Mr. Tembo continues to be a voice of inspiration and advocacy. He currently serves as a Board Member of Youth Lead Zambia, the Albinism Alliance of Zambia, and has also served as a member of the Boxing Federation of Zambia.

Today, we proudly say —

Welcome Mr. Gideon Tembo to The Promised Land as a Co-Founder Trustee — a man whose life story embodies hope, service, and the unwavering belief that transformation begins with compassion.

Tiffany Smith
Co-Founder & Executive Director

Tiffany Smith is the founder of The Promise Land, a wife, mother, rancher at heart, and a firm believer in second chances and divine purpose. She lives and manages Random Road Ranch in Northwest Colorado with her husband, Adam, and their two daughters, where faith, family, and hard work shape everyday life. Ranch life keeps them grounded—surrounded by animals, mountains, and a little chaos—but Tiffany’s heart has long been drawn beyond their fences to a small community in Malambanyama, Zambia.

More than twenty years ago, Tiffany first set foot on African soil, an experience that forever changed her life. During that time, she met Gideon Tembo, then a young student at Children’s Town Orphanage. His story of perseverance, resilience, and hope reshaped how she saw the world. That friendship planted the seed that would one day grow into The Promise Land—a home and safe haven for children with nowhere else to turn.

Today, Tiffany pours her heart into building connections that bring resources, opportunity, and love to those who need it most. Whether she’s working cattle and donkeys on the ranch, creating handmade ranch goods, or raising funds to support efforts in Zambia, her purpose remains the same: to use what she has been given to give back.

The Promise Land is more than a mission—it is a promise to keep showing up, to love boldly, and to believe that together, something beautiful can be built. Tiffany and her family live by the motto, “We may not have it all together, but together we have it all,” a truth that guides everything they are working toward in Zambia.

Mrs. Jean Chama Moyo
Board Member

We are deeply honored to welcome Mrs. Jean Chama Moyo to the board of The Promised Land — a remarkable woman whose life’s work exemplifies service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to community development.

With over 24 years of service in Zambia and beyond, Jean began her journey at Children’s Town, transforming young lives through Child Aid projects. Her passion for community upliftment later took her to Zimbabwe, where she continued to support children and families in need.

Upon returning to Zambia, Jean served with distinction as a Manager across Western, Central, Lusaka, and Southern provinces, ensuring that development initiatives reached even the most remote communities. Her leadership and heart for children eventually led her back to Children’s Town, where she managed children’s welfare, nurturing hope and shaping futures.

Now retired from active field service, Jean continues to shine as a parent, mentor, and guiding voice in development work. Her wisdom and experience remain invaluable to the board, bringing a legacy of care, integrity, and faith in community empowerment.

Welcome aboard, Mrs. Jean Chama Moyo — your light continues to guide us forward.

Janet Hollifield
Board Member

The Promise Land is honored to have Janet Hollifield serving on our board. She is deeply valued as both a leader and a friend, and she will be joining the team on a trip to Zambia in 2026.

Janet is a single mother, health advocate, and firm believer in the power of resilience. Nursing has been her calling for more than a decade, with over ten years of experience in emergency medicine and five years in women’s health. Through her work, she has learned that true healing extends far beyond clinical care—it is rooted in compassion, connection, and empowering others to rise through life’s challenges.

Her passion for service reaches beyond the hospital walls. As a volunteer with her local Crisis Support Team, Janet walks alongside individuals during some of their most difficult moments, offering presence, understanding, and hope.

Outside of work, Janet finds balance and renewal through yoga. She believes deeply in the mind–body–spirit connection and is passionate about helping others cultivate strength, clarity, and growth from within.

At her core, Janet is a healer, a mother, and a woman devoted to helping others rediscover their resilience—because she knows firsthand how transformative it can be.
